The Right Products for Vehicle Maintenance
Lubrication solutions that ensure peak performance for entire fleets, whether on the road, trail or rails.
Understanding NLGI Ratings
The National Lubricating Grease Institute (NGLI) is an international trade association serving the grease and gear lubricant industry. NLGI has a grading system that assists customers in determining the viscosity or flow of any given grease. Many vehicle owner’s manuals specifically recommend greases that carry the NLGI Certification Mark on the label. Super Lube greases carry this mark, ensuring only the highest quality products for your vehicles.
NLGI grades are broken down by consistency:
- 000-0: Fluid; often used in specialized applications like centralized lubrication systems
- 1: Soft; used for bearings and some electric motors
- 2: Medium; the most common grade for various industrial and automotive applications
- 3: Medium-hard; used where higher stability is needed
- 4-6: Very hard; used in specialized applications requiring maximum stability
Super Lube grease NLGI grades can be found on their packaging and Technical Data Sheets.
Super Lube In Action
The Challenge:
- One of the largest manufacturers of temperature control systems for commercial vehicles produces refrigerator systems for trailers and trucks, along with HVAC systems for bus and passenger rail applications
- Systems were malfunctioning due to dirt and road salt buildup impacting electrical connections
- The manufacturer needed a preventative lubricant to protect passengers and cargo in-transit
The Solution:
- Super Lube was proactively applied to all exposed connectors, input studs and wiring power lugs, forming a tough protective barrier
- This maintenance step helped prevent corrosion and damage, ensuring lasting fleet efficiency
Super Lube Railroad Lubricants
In addition to products for automotive uses, we have developed specialty lubricants for railroad applications:
- Super Lube Railroad Grease is a NLGI Grade 1 grease specially formulated for track side lubricators to reduce the noise and wear associated with wheel flange to curved rail sections on light rail systems
- Super Lube Railroad Switch Plate Lubricant is designed to satisfy the mechanical requirements associated with railroad turnouts and switches
- Super Lube High Viscosity Railroad Switch Plate Oil is a fortified track switch oil with anti-icing properties for railroad switch slide plates, throw rods and other moving parts
